Food for Thought Friday: give me that new year food!

Happy last email of 2021!

It's a snowy new years eve for me here on the Denver tarmac^ 🤣 where I am currently writing this email (very late) and hoping my flight back to SF does not get cancelled!

Something about airplanes always makes me reflective, and an airplane on new years eve means some big time reflection. I'm thinking about last years' flight home after the holidays and how much has happened since then. I'm thinking of all my loved ones' years - the milestones, the surprises, the joys, the losses, the heartbreaks. Every year is so unique and can be so utterly different from the last. On one December 31 we might wave goodbye to the past year with glee, and on a different year we might be wishing we could go back and repeat it. And yet, the years keep coming and time keeps ticking on.

I've been away traveling for the past month+, so this new years eve I am anxious to get back to my normal routines, and most especially back to my kitchen to cook!

In January I always crave a combination of cozy/comforting and fresh/healthy foods to "reset" after the wonderful indulgence of the holidays.

In case you could use a few ideas, here are some of my favorite recipes I'll be excited to cook up if/when I make it home :)...

And for further reflection inspiration:
  • I've written in the past about my New Year's Reflection Practice. I've been moving away from goals a bit because I realized I like being more flowy about my life, but I really love my practice of choosing a yearly theme, so check it out in that article if you're into reflection/intention setting/goals, etc!

Here's to a delicious, joyful and healthy 2022! See you there!

Love,
Jess

Hi, I'm Jess! I help health-conscious, busy people transform their cooking from chore to lifestyle through intuitive cooking, which I teach through online classes, free content, coaching and more. This is my newsletter, Food for Thought Fridays, where I share highly actionable tips and inspiration to help you cook more intuitively (which makes cooking feel easier and SO much more fun!). Once a month, I share a recipe that's really worth making, and I only share those with my email subscribers.

I currently work + live on land that is the unceded territory of the Ramaytush Ohlone. And I can't wait to eat at Cafe Ohlone when they reopen someday! Check out this article about them.
